Charleston with Uncle Austin

A little over a week ago we took Boog to wish his Uncle Austin a bon voyage before he ships out his next spot (which we just learned was San Diego, the best naval port in the US!). Though we had both individually frequented Charleston in the past, this was our first time visiting together, and more importantly, as a family.

We spent a day walking around downtown Charleston and enjoyed seeing the battery, the cobblestone streets, and the gorgeous houses. One of our favorite spots was the fountains at the pier - it was so hot and humid we needed to cool off a bit!

While downtown, we walked into an old candy shop (that also had a fantastic old robot collection), and the girl at the counter gave him a balloon. He held that balloon ALL. DAY. LONG.

We even got to spend an afternoon at the Isle of Palms, and enjoyed taking in the view. We fantasized about moving there sometime in the future... hey, we can dream right?

It was a perfect weekend with one of our favorite people. Boog especially was so glad to see Uncle Austin and we all look forward to hearing about all his great adventures in the sea.
